About Qasida Burda Shareef

Qasida Al-Burda, “The Poem of the Mantle”, is the celebrated poem in praise of the Beloved Prophet ﷺ composed by Imam al-Busiri in the 7th century Hijri. Its original title is الكواكب الدرية في مدح خير البرية. The poem is arranged in ten Fasals: it begins with longing and self-reflection, then celebrates the blessed life, miracles, the Qur’an and Mi‘raj, before concluding with supplication and intercession.

THE AUTHOR

Imam al-Busiri رحمه الله

Imam Abu ‘Abdullah Muhammad ibn Sa‘id al-Busiri (608–696 A.H.) was a distinguished Egyptian poet and saint. He composed the Qasida Burda during a period of illness, and it became one of the most celebrated poems in praise of the Beloved Prophet ﷺ.
