I have heard it is beneficial for someone who passes away to have a righteous child who prays for him. If my parent has passed away what is the best way I can pray for them to benefit them?
FATWA
Yes, it is mentioned in Hadees. Two of them are being mentioned below:
Hazrat Abu Hurayrah, رضی اللہ عنہ, reported that Allah's Messenger, sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said:
"When a human being dies, all of his deeds are terminated except for three types: an ongoing sadaqah, a knowledge (of Islam) from which others benefit, and a righteous child who makes du'a for him."
Muslim and others
Abu Qatadah, rahimahullah, reported that Allah's Messenger, sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said:
"The best that a man can leave behind after his death are three things: a righteous child who makes du'a for him, an ongoing sadaqah whose rewards continue to reach him, and a knowledge that continues to be implemented after him."
Ibn Majah, and others.
According to explanation of Ahadees The best charity is one which ia utmost needed at that time. So the best form and much needed form of charity for your deceased parents is certainly to construct 🕌mosque along with Islamic University where Muslims can be guided , scholars can be produced and faith of future generations is saved.
