Eating Shark
What is Shariah ruling on eating Sharks ?

الجواب
According to the Hanafi school of Islamic jurisprudence, among aquatic animals, only fish are lawful (halal), and all species of fish are considered Halal. Since the shark is also a type of fish, it is therefore halal as well.
Grand Mufti of Pakistan, Mufti Waqaruddin رحمه الله writes:
“According to the Hanafis, among sea and river creatures, only fish are halal. All other aquatic and marine animals besides fish are unlawful (haram). A shark is also a type of fish.”
He further writes:
“There is no harm in eating this fish (shark) or in buying and selling it.”
